Presence Film

The acclaimed director tests his directorial skills with this innovative paranormal narrative filmed completely from the perspective of the spirit. After a clan including mother Rebekah and her distressed teen Chloe moves into their recent residence, the camera – as the unseen entity – shadows their actions. The teen shows signs of aware of the supernatural presence, and it seems defensive toward her. However, the motive remains? This Creepy Thriller

The director's contained scarefest remains effective even without a follow-up. Taking place in 1978 Denver, several child abductions has left the children frightened. However, the old telephone in the room repeatedly calls, with eerie communicators providing assistance, and the prescient dreams of his sister Gwen may be his salvation. A solid creepfest. October 11th, nighttime, on Film4

The Eyes of Tammy Faye

In the battle between spirituality and money, the winner is obvious for materialism in Michael Showalter's wonderfully garish film adaptation about the fallen religious broadcaster and her criminal husband. Garfield plays the corrupt Bakker, who declares initially, “God does not want us to be poor,”. He and Tammy Faye begin capitalizing on the people's religious faith. It's a riot of bad interior design, bad makeup and insincerity, however the lead actress achieves to depict the character in a likable light. Next Tuesday, early morning, the Film4 channel

The Spy Mystery

This week's another release by the same director presents a spy mystery as precise as the polo necks worn by the actor's British agent.
